The Mtakatyi River Mouth is only 3 kms from our own private launch site, and is accessible by kayak, vehicle or boat. 80 years of Hospitality History
Set along the unspoiled Wild Coast, Mtakatyi River Lodge stands on a site rich in local history. Established in 1946, the property was once known as The Old Trading Post, a small, but thriving, rural shop that provided essential goods and services to the surrounding community and travelers passing through the area.
Welcoming Wild Coast Retreat
Today, the lodge offers comfortable accommodation suited to couples, families, and small groups. Guests can choose from either a king-size room (ensuite), two double bedrooms (ensuite), or a twin bedroom. Other accommodation choices include five fully equipped garden tents or a spacious campsite for those seeking a closer connection to nature. With the river, beach, and coastal landscapes nearby, it is an ideal base for relaxation and outdoor adventure.
Guest Comfort
Recent improvements have enhanced the guest experience, including a 35-metre circular swimming pool, a covered pool bar area, and a pool bar kitchen with an outdoor pizza oven. A covered dining area provides a welcoming space to gather, while modern ablutions and a refreshing outdoor shower ensure convenience and comfort after a day spent exploring the coast.
